Why merino wool
Merino is a natural and sustainable fiber, renewable and biodegradable. It absorbs up to 30% of its own weight in moisture while still insulating, so a baby stays dry and cozy. It is also naturally anti-microbial and hypoallergenic, which is why it suits newborn skin.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a good baby shower gift? It is one of the most requested personalized baby gifts we carry. A merino blanket knit with a child’s name arrives before they do, and it is usually the one kept from the day long after the clothes and toys have gone.
What size is it, and what does it fit? Approximately 27.5" x 35.5". That covers a crib, a stroller or a carriage, and it works as a crib topper for a toddler rather than a full bed blanket.
Is merino wool safe for a newborn? Yes. Merino is naturally hypoallergenic and anti-microbial, and it regulates body temperature, which is why it is recommended for babies more often than cotton or synthetic fleece.
Can the date of birth be added? Yes, alongside the name. Most people add it once the baby has arrived and leave it off when the blanket is a shower gift.
Which lettering style should I choose? Times New Roman is the most traditional and the easiest to read at a glance. Cursive is the softest. Nouvelle sits between the two and is the most modern of the three.
Can I have a color that is not listed? Yes. This design can be custom ordered in any color from the full merino range of 48 shades. Call us at 203-655-0185 or email customercare@babybox.com and we will confirm the color before it is knit.
How do I wash it? Hand wash with care and lay flat to dry. Merino is naturally odor-resistant and rarely needs washing, so airing it between uses is usually enough.
Personalized pieces are hand knit to order and cannot be returned, so please check the spelling before ordering.
